Had to start sharing...

As I said earlier, it's been a lazy summer...although, I am working a real job too! I just realized I haven't posted pictures of Gr8Greens! What was I thinking? It has been a truly amazing thing...watching these plants grow from teeny, tiny seedlings to monstrous plants on the way to "The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" BIG! ;-)

So, here are some photos covering seed planting to a couple of weeks ago. I'll start posting new pictures every couple of weeks as these things are really taking off...

Seeds planted on  June 30th. A few began to sprout in a couple of days...
Day 3 after planting. Amazing!

Nearly a 100% sprout rate.
Moved most seedlings to the Gr8Greens unit July 21st:

July 21st when most seedlings were planted.
August 9th growth. By then, I had only lost 5 plants out of 26, mostly the lettuce. The Florida heat is tough, but we built a shade tent and it has really helped.

This is the shade tent.
The big guy is squash.

Check out the roots on this tomato!

I'll post current pictures this week...unbelievable growth!

The School Year Has Begun! I Am Ready to Get "Golding"!

Hey there! It has been a while since I last posted...busy summer, lazy summer! But, now the new school year has begun. Hard to believe I am a Junior and time is flying, but I am psyched about my GS Troop #862 getting back into the groove. Those of us working on our Gold need to finish out last Journey - Girl Topia. I have been steadily working on Gr8Greens and my Award ideas. Now that our leader is back, we are moving full steam ahead.

So, I wanted to share what I recently found out about. Mom was reading her Quilting magazine and saw this amazing project. Check out this link and read all about this wonderful idea:

Yep, it fits right into my Girl Topia journey...we want to make a difference too. I can sew ok and am rallying the "troops", if you will, and getting some younger GSers to make some pillowcases for local charities. The South Tampa Rehab center down the street from me has posted a sign out front that they need volunteers...I am going to contact them about how I can help.

Get involved and check out the site above...sew and donate your pillowcases.
